Neutering is the kindest option!

21 June 2017

Our volunteers were distributing £5 neutering voucher scheme leaflets when they came across a multi cat household with over 20 cats and kittens present. Four of the cats had been previously neutered but the remainder weren’t.  They were living in appalling conditions, some of them where in poor condition and in urgent need of vet attention, sadly some had already passed away.
The cats came into our care 3 weeks ago, and what an amazing difference 3 weeks of TLC has made. Queenie, the dark tortoiseshell in the photo was emaciated, none of us expected her to survive but she proved to be a little fighter and is going from strength to strength.  Ushi and Ursa were is a lot of pain from perforated and damaged eyes as a result of not receiving treatment for flu, they are so much happier after having operations to remove their eyes.
All this suffering could have been prevented by the simple and kind act of neutering, if this had been done initially, the owner wouldn’t have ended up in this dire situation. If you have an un-neutered cat/kitten please get it neutered, the £5 scheme is available to people on low income and benefits, pensioners and students to apply for a voucher please ring 03000 12 12 12.
Our cash4 cats appeal to help us pay for vet bills for needy cats is still open, if you would like to make a donation to help cats like Queenie, Ursa and Ushi you do so at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/cash4catsappeal or you can donate by texting CFCA50 followed by £1, £2, £3, £5 or £10 to 70070
Ushi and Ursa are now available for adoption; Queenie will need a few more weeks in care before she is fully recovered.
